ABOUT OLD WHITTINGTON ONE PLACE STUDY

I  started this study initially to record  the lives of the men who died in the First World War from Whittington and The Brushes and whose names are commemorated on the War Memorial in the village.

For more information on Old Whittington please go to https://oldwhittingtonops.com/  or the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Old-Whittington-One-Place-Study-1499244610198638

After studying my family tree for many years I found that some family members were born and lived in Old Whittington.  I was married at Old Whittington church (St Bartholomews) many years ago and lived in Old Whittington for a time although I was born and grew up in New Whittington. My grandmother grew up on what was known as The Brushes.

I would eventually like to include the history of Old Whittington but as we are coming up to the Centenary of the end of World War One I will be concentrating my research on remembering the fallen for the moment.

My intention is to use the information I find to link people and trades and try to paint a picture of life in Old Whittington. I will use census records, parish records, military records and newspaper reports amongst others.

If anyone has information they would like to contribute about men listed on the War Memorial or information on the history of Old Whittington then please contact me at lindabell157@gmail.com
Hopefully this site will be of interest to many people who live or have lived in Old Whittington or The Brushes.
