I have just finished my research into the life of H E Whitbread. 

Ernest is listed on the Brushes Memorial and also remembered on Bedford St Peters Memorial.

Ernest was a bit tricky to trace and cross reference, many thanks to Gloria Evison for the information which helped to confirm some of my findings.

Christopher Loomes DCM

Christopher is one of only two men on the Whittington War Memorials who was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

Looking at the photographs certainly reminds you of just how young these boys who left the village never to return were!

WE REMEMBER TODAY 

Stanley Pardy who died on 8th January 1916.

CHARLES LEGGITT

Sometimes when researching peoples lives the information you need just isn't there. Unfortunately this was the case with Charles the records needed to build up a picture of his early life and his army life are sadly missing.

WALTER BUTT

Walter left me a bit stumped at first as I couldn't see his connection to Whittington and I was a bit concerned I was researching the wrong person. However, I did find find the link I needed eventually! 

Walter is one of the few men who are only listed on the Brushes War Memorial which is why it is important to keep remembering it on Remembrance Sunday.

If any descendants of the Butt family are still in the area and would like to add any information then please let me know.
